Pokemon Scarlet/Violet’s New DLC Will Even Let You Fly In The Main Paldea Region

Nintendo has shared new details on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s upcoming DLC expansion, The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero Part 2: The Indigo Disk. Among other things, DLC’s new flying mechanic will extend to the main Paldea region, while players will also be able to “synchronize” with a Pokemon to take on their form.

As we previously learned, the DLC allows players to temporarily gain the ability to fly on top of Koraidon (for Pokemon Scarlet players) or Miraidon (Violet). While this is limited at first, progressing further into the expansion will unlock this flying ability permanently, including in the main Paldea region from the base game.

The new Synchro Machine device debuting in this expansion allows players to “see the world through the eyes of their Pokemon.” In the trailer, we see that the player-trainer controls Pikachu and races other Pokemon on tracks similar to Pokemon Dash. Players can obtain the Synchro Machine as soon they are finished aiding one of the scientists with her research.

A new character named Snacksworth debuts in The Indigo Disk after finishing the DLC’s main story. Helping Snacksworth with Blueberry Quests will earn players snacks that allow the opportunity to encounter Legendary Pokemon from previous generations, but now in Paldea.

Pokemon Scarlet/Violet has received continuous updates since its launch late last year with monthly Tera Raids, reintroducing Pokemon from previous generations like Charizard, Blaziken, and Decidueye, and The Hidden Treasure Of Area Zero Part One: The Teal Mask. The Indigo Disk completes The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC as a direct story expansion to The Teal Mask on September 13, 2023. The Indigo Disk DLC launches on December 14, 2023. The Hidden Treasure Of Area Zero can be purchased on the Nintendo Switch in the eShop for $35 USD for Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet.
